Penshurst Place and Gardens, Tonbridge, Kent

What an amazing day we all had at Penshurst Place and Gardens in Tonbridge, Kent – the weather was kind to us, always tricky in April!
After a coach journey down we were met and taken for tea and coffee plus biscuits.
We had a personal tour around Penshurst explaining how the property came into the family, the emblems and some fascinating details about its heritage, who stayed and what had been going on.
It was built in 14th Century, during 15th & 16th Century there were various royal visitors including King Henry VIII, Anne of Cleves & Queen Elizabeth I. The house was gifted to Sidney Family circa 1550’s by Edward VI and is still the family home.
It has also been used for many films including Wolf Hall and The Other Boleyn Girl.
Before lunch there was a visit to the Toy Museum, a little bit of nostalgia for many remembering toys of years gone by!
Lunch was in the Garden Room, which gave us all time to chat and catch up.
An hour tour of the garden helped work off lunch, each area of the garden is divided so it acts like a room – it is mostly divided by hedging I expect the Rose Garden will look amazing when in full bloom.
Before heading back to the coach and our return to Enfield, we stopped for some bubbles & cake – well we are ladies that do!
These day trips are always good fun, we get to enjoy each others company, plus do something you might not get to do otherwise – remember my exercise classes are not just that, they provide social events as well!
If you would like to come along to another event / trip – keep an eye on the events page for further details, or message me so I know you would like to be included.
